- • We are not on track for Paris 1.5 by 2050 and could be hitting 3° by the end of the century, which could make the planet virtually uninhabitable.
• We are facing annually intensifying extreme temperatures, rising seas, fiercer storms, ravaging forest fires, unpredictable floods, acid oceans, harsher droughts, fiercer famines critical biodiversity loss and serious human displacement.
• Climate change is the single biggest health threat to humanity, accounting for 13 million deaths a year.
• in every sector there are options available that can at least halve emissions by 2030 and keep open the possibility of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees.
• We need to shift urgently to a clean energy based world and a renewables/regeneration mind-set.
• It will take technology breakthroughs and massive financing for transformation and must take care of the poorest most vulnerable.
• Nature based solutions are a vital component, providing carbon sinks and ecosystem regeneration.
- • Committed approaches can provide significant economic benefits and millions of new jobs.
